Worship at Geneva
Worship is the central act of the people of God

Worship Service Information

Our worship statement says that

"Christian worship is a real and living encounter between the holy and eternal Creator of all things, and people he has redeemed through the death and resurrection of his Son, Jesus Christ.”

We believe that worship is for all of God’s redeemed people - old, young, and in-between. The whole family of God rejoices together in the presence of God. We offer our praises, along with the finest gifts of our wealth, our time, and our talents. None of these offerings are worthy of God’s great love for us, but we offer them in thanksgiving for God’s redeeming grace.

We believe that worship is the central act of all God’s people in all generations everywhere. Our worship is part of a living tradition that stretches as far into the past as human memory can reach, and as far into the future as a human mind can imagine. We strive to respect the tradition we have inherited, but also to add to it and enhance it. So we sing new songs and old songs in our worship; we use ancient prayers and litanies as well as new ones of our own creation. We follow a traditional Reformed liturgy, but adapt it freely for worship in the context of a university community.

We believe that worship should also involve every part of our selves: our bodies, our minds, our hearts, and our wills. Our worship allows us to express the full range of human devotion to God. It includes words, spoken and sung, as well as silence. It involves action, as well as stillness, listening as well as speaking. Our worship prepares and equips us to serve God in every part of our lives.

We strive to offer worship that glorifies God and that blesses God’s people in every way.

“Come, bless the LORD, all you servants of the LORD,

who stand by night in the house of the LORD!

Lift up your hands to the holy place,

and bless the LORD.

May the LORD, maker of heaven and earth, bless you from Zion.” (Psalm 134)
